Data Architect - Financial Services - Hybrid Working - Central London (1 day per week)

Your new company

Our client is a well-established investment-focused organisation responsible for managing substantial long-term assets and delivering critical services to a large member base across the UK. As part of an ambitious data transformation programme, they are investing heavily in modern cloud-based data platforms, AI capabilities, and enterprise data architecture to support future business growth and innovation.

Your new role

We are seeking a hands-on Data Architect to play a key role in the evolution of a modern enterprise data platform. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys both strategic architecture and getting close to the data, working alongside engineering teams to design scalable, business-focused solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and govern enterprise-wide data architecture standards, principles, and best practices.

  • Design and maintain scalable data models supporting analytics, reporting, operational processes, and investment-focused initiatives.

  • Provide architecture and database design guidance across a growing Microsoft-based data estate.

  • Work closely with Data Engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions.

  • Lead data modelling activities across strategic data platform and data consolidation programmes.

  • Design solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks within a cloud-based architecture.

  • Define best-practice approaches to data storage, including Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architectures.

  • Establish robust data integration patterns using tools such as Azure Data Factory.

  • Support programmes focused on standardising and consolidating data across multiple business domains.

  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical and sustainable data solutions.

  • Contribute to the organisation's wider data, cloud, and AI strategy.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a Data Architect position within a complex enterprise environment.

  • Previous background in Data Engineering, Data Modelling, or Database Development with a desire to remain technically hands-on.

  • Strong expertise within the Microsoft data ecosystem, including SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and related technologies.

  • Experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms and architecture frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of data modelling principles, dimensional modelling, and logical/physical database design.

  • Deep knowledge of data warehousing, Lakehouse architectures, and modern data platform design.

  • Experience delivering ETL/ELT solutions and integration architectures.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and architecture best practices.

  • Familiarity with Databricks and modern cloud-based analytics platforms.

  • Exposure to investment management, asset management, pensions, or wider financial services data.

  • Understanding of investment-related concepts such as holdings, transactions, valuations, securities, performance, benchmarks, or reference data.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • Ability to bridge the gap between architecture, engineering, and business teams.

What you'll get in return

  • Generous annual bonus scheme

  • Hybrid Working with just 1 day per week in the Central London Office

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays

  • Strong pension provision

  • Extensive Benefits
