Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to support a range of ongoing energy and data-focused initiatives. This role is heavily centred on Excel-based data analysis, with a primary focus on improving data quality, consistency, and accuracy. You will work with large volumes of customer and operational data, playing a key role in ensuring reliable datasets to support critical downstream processes across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform extensive data cleaning and validation, addressing poor or inconsistent data quality
  • Identify and resolve errors, anomalies, and data gaps
  • Cross-reference and reconcile data across multiple sources
  • Support migration from legacy systems to new platforms
  • Produce clean, accurate datasets for reporting and operational use
  • Work with customer data and meter-related information
  • Support data accuracy for energy supply and smart meter processes
  • Ensure data integrity to prevent downstream issues (e.g. incorrect records, billing/top-up errors)
Key Projects / Context
  • Migration of data from a legacy system into a new platform
  • Supporting implementation and integration of new systems (including clearing functions)
  • Addressing inconsistent and unreliable datasets requiring significant cleansing
  • Supporting high-volume data handling within an energy/utilities environment
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Advanced Excel skills (core requirement), including:
    • Data manipulation and cleansing
    • Formulas, lookups, and reconciliation techniques
  • Proven experience working with large datasets
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience in data validation and quality assurance
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data issues
Desirable
  • Experience supporting system migrations or working with legacy data
  • Background in energy, utilities, or customer data environments
  • Understanding of data reconciliation and cross-referencing processes
Key Attributes
  • Highly detail-oriented with a methodical approach
  • Strong problem-solving capability
  • Comfortable working with imperfect or unstructured data
  • Proactive in identifying issues and driving data improvements
  • Able to work independently while contributing to an in-house team
Additional Information
  • This role focusses on data accuracy and preparation, rather than visualisation or reporting.
  • Data issues currently impact key business processes, making this role critical to operational success.
  • Emphasis is on “getting the data right” before any downstream use.
