Data & AI Governance

Your new company
A large, complex organisation undergoing a significant shift toward data-led decision-making and AI enablement. With the increasing adoption of Microsoft technologies, including M365 and Copilot, the business is investing in building a robust and scalable data governance capability to support safe, effective, and commercially valuable use of data across the organisation.

Your new role
As a Data & AI Governance Lead (Contract), you will be responsible for establishing the foundations of a practical, scalable data governance capability. This is a time-bound, outcome-focused role, where success is defined by delivering a working governance framework that is live, adopted, and ready to scale.
Operating in a hands-on capacity, you will work across data, AI, security, M365, and business domains to implement governance structures that enable federated ownership rather than centralised control.
Key deliverables will include the establishment of governance forums, ownership frameworks, and the activation of Microsoft Purview (E5) to support governance and visibility. You will also play a key role in ensuring governance readiness for the safe rollout of M365 Copilot.
Importantly, this role is focused on building and embedding capability, with a clear handover to a permanent Data Governance Manager at the end of the engagement.

What you'll need to succeed
Essential
  • Proven experience establishing data governance frameworks within large-scale organisations
  • Strong practical experience with Microsoft Purview (or similar governance tooling)
  • Deep understanding of data ownership, stewardship, and federated governance models
  • Experience working across M365, security, and business teams
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills across both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to operate in a pragmatic, delivery-focused manner within evolving environments
Highly desirable
  • Experience supporting M365 Copilot or broader AI enablement initiatives
  • Experience working in domain-led or federated data operating models
  • Background within regulated, infrastructure-heavy, or complex enterprise environments
What you'll get in return
  • Opportunity to lead the establishment of a foundational data & AI governance capability
  • Exposure to a high-impact programme involving Microsoft Purview and M365 Copilot rollout
  • A role focused on tangible outcomes, not long-term strategy or BAU operations
  • Hybrid working and competitive day rate aligned with market expectations.
  • The chance to leave a lasting impact by delivering a governance capability that is adopted and scalable
