A Damp & Mould Surveyor job working in the social housing sector, paying up to £52,000 per annum DOE

Your new company

Hays are delighted to be partnered with a large and ambitious housing association based in Birmingham in recruiting a Damp & Mould Surveyor to join their successful in-house maintenance, and specialist repairs team. Our client are committed to providing affordable homes and delivering high-quality services to tenants across Birmingham and the surrounding areas, with a strong focus on community and tenant satisfaction.

Your new role

As a Damp & Mould Surveyor, you will join the In-House Maintenance team within the Specialist Repairs function. Your primary responsibility will be to support the delivery of maintenance services focused on damp and mould prevention and remediation. This tenant-centric role involves:
  • Conducting pre-and-post inspection surveys to diagnose and resolve disrepair and damp and mould issues.
  • Producing detailed schedules of work using NHF Schedule of Rates.
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all relevant certifications are provided.
  • Managing damp and mould complaint cases and producing technical reports.
  • Collaborating with the Contract Management team and other departments to ensure a high-quality repairs service.
  • Support the overall delivery of contracted maintenance services.
  • Management of your own caseload.
This position is a Monday to Friday role, with good hybrid flexibility, and with the majority of your time spent out on site inspections conducting surveys.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
  • Previous experience in surveying, particularly within building and property maintenance across damp, mould, and disrepair.
  • Ideally recognised building surveying qualification (RICS or CIOB), or extensive experience in the area.
  • HHSRS qualification.
  • Strong technical expertise and knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985, Environmental Protection Act 1990, Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018, and the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023.
  • Experience in managing your own caseload and working with minimal day-to-day supervision.
All applicants will require the right to work in the UK at the time of application as Visa sponsorship will not be offered for this role. Those without the right to work in the UK at the time of application need not apply.

What you'll get in return

In return you will receive an excellent basic salary of up to £52,000 per annum, plus other benefits including 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, excellent matched pension scheme, and more.
