Customs Analyst
Assignment Type: Temporary, ongoing basis where you will be engaged via Hays.
Location: Bognor Regis
Working Environment: office based on site - hybrid.
Pay type: Competitive hourly pay rate.

What awaits you
We are seeking a proactive and meticulous Customs Analyst to join our UK & Ireland team. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with all customs and international trade regulations, UK and Ireland laws, and guidelines. You will support compliant tax, customs, and export control operations and contribute to optimizing our supply chains through precise data handling, KPI development, and coordination with external service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all applicable customs and international trade regulations, UK/IE law, and guidelines within assigned areas. Support compliant tax, customs, and export control operations, including the timely and accurate creation and submission of tax and customs declarations, determination of customs values, application of preferential trade programs or verification of origin for UK & Group entities.
Contribute to cost reduction, reduction of delays, mitigation of risks, and safeguarding of supply chains.
Prepare and maintain customs, export control, or tax-related KPIs and KPIs, and generate relevant foreign trade statistics.
Assist in implementing tax, customs, and export control changes in processes and systems.
Support oversight of external service providers to ensure service quality within their scope.
Maintain and harmonize data, ensuring synchronization and distribution of data across customs and export control initiatives for all areas.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; maintain a calm, proactive, and collaborative approach; be organized, resilient, and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
What should you bring along?
1+ years of experience in trade compliance (customs and export control) and related regulations.
3+ years of proven computer literacy, including MS Office (Excel in particular) and Windows.
1+ years of SAP experience or experience with other trade compliance systems (e.g., MIC); preferred modules include FI, MM, SD or SAP GTS, or other customs/export control tools.
2+ years of analytical experience with data interpretation and reporting.
2+ years of experience working in a team environment and in a customer-focused setting.
Basic German language skills are preferred, international and cross-cultural experience is highly valued.
Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally as required.
