Credit Risk Analyst

Contract Credit Analyst – Europe (Confidential Client)

An experienced Credit Analyst is required to support the European Credit function of a leading international bank. This contract role will focus on maintaining and monitoring the quality of the lending portfolio across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, in line with bank policy, regulatory requirements, and internal credit standards.
This is a delivery‑focused contract opportunity within a high‑calibre, fast‑moving credit environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse credit applications and prepare detailed credit papers and recommendations for Senior Management to support final credit decisions
  • Approve credit and risk facilities within delegated authority limits
  • Review and provide credit recommendations on transactions exceeding departmental approval limits to regional or Head Office committees
  • Monitor and review the loan portfolio to ensure a balanced, high‑quality asset base
  • Conduct regular and ad‑hoc credit reviews and assess internal risk ratings
  • Monitor developments across allocated industries and product sectors, identifying emerging risks and adverse trends
  • Escalate material credit concerns and portfolio issues to Senior Management in a timely manner
  • Act as a key point of reference for branches, providing guidance and support on credit and lending‑related matters
  • Ensure adherence to internal credit policy, regulatory requirements, and local legal frameworks
  • Where required, attend client meetings and conduct on‑site visits to gain deeper understanding of credit exposures

Required Experience & Skills (Essential)
  • Advanced credit analysis and research skills, including cash‑flow analysis and financial modelling
  • Solid experience gained within a mainstream banking or similar institutional environment
  • Strong experience analysing and lending to major corporate clients, ideally including LBO finance in the EMEA region
  • Ability to interpret and critically assess balance sheets, P&L accounts, and cash‑flow statements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to senior stakeholders
