Credit Controller, Temporary to Permanent, Immediate start, Birmingham office-based

Your new company

You will be working for a multinational organisation based just outside of Birmingham City Centre. The organisation operates on a business-to-business basis within electrical and manufacturing. You will work as a credit controller for the business on a temporary basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent role.

Your new role

Hays are recruiting for a Credit Controller to join a well-established electrical and manufacturing business on a 3‑month temporary assignment, starting immediately. This is an office‑based role located just outside Birmingham city centre, with the opportunity to go permanent for the right person who demonstrates capability and commitment. The role will involve managing the credit control function, maintaining customer accounts, chasing outstanding debt, resolving queries, and supporting the wider finance team as required. The position offers a £29,000 salary equivalent on a temporary basis.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you must have previous credit control experience, or clear working knowledge of credit control demonstrated at interview. You will have a switched-on, bright and hardworking approach with strong attention to detail. You will have confidence using your initiative and work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Strong communication skills, and a professional can-do attitude. You must be able to start this assignment immediately and commit to a minimum of 3-month assignment. This role would suit someone keen to prove themselves in a stable business with genuine long-term potential.

You will be comfortable working across multiple finance and ERP systems, with the ability to pick up new systems quickly. You must have a clear understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping, specifically credits and debits within a credit control environment. You must also have confidence reconciling accounts and identifying discrepancies between systems. You will be able to follow processes accurately while using initiative to resolve issues independently.
