About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Cover Supervisor to join a team at a thriving secondary school in Newcastle.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity within an alternative provision environment, supporting students who require a more tailored approach to education.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-set work, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and support students in staying engaged and on task.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring a calm and purposeful learning environment
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions
- Manage behaviour in line with the school’s policies
- Support students with varying needs, encouraging engagement and participation
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour
- Build positive professional relationships with pupils and staff
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, or care setting
- Confident classroom presence and strong behaviour management skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and adapt to different situations
- Passion for supporting students in an alternative provision setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A positive, proactive and resilient attitude
