Contract Type: Flexible (Day-to-day and long-term options available)
Start Date: As soon as possible

About the Role:
Hays Education is seeking empathetic and adaptable SEN Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools and specialist provisions across Northamptonshire and nearby areas. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in education, care, or youth work—particularly those passionate about supporting learners with additional needs—to gain valuable experience in inclusive settings while enjoying flexible working arrangements.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Supervising classes during teacher absences using pre-set work, adapting tasks where necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Supporting students with a range of special educational needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties)
  • Promoting engagement and positive behaviour through tailored strategies and clear communication
  • Providing emotional and social support to help students feel safe and included
  • Reporting any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Experience working with young people, ideally including those with SEN (education, care, coaching, youth work)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting diverse learning needs
  • Flexibility to work across different subjects and settings, including mainstream and specialist schools
  • A genuine commitment to inclusion and helping every student reach their potential

What You’ll Get in Return:
  • Competitive daily pay rates from £85 to £135
  • A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your journey
  • Opportunities for both short-term and long-term placements in SEN and mainstream settings
  • Access to professional development and SEN-specific training
  • Referral bonus of £250 in vouchers when you refer a friend who completes 20 days of supply
  • High demand for SEN cover supervisors in the area, offering consistent work
