Hays is proud to be working in partnership with a Local Council to recruit an experienced Coroner’s Investigator on an interim basis. This is a critical role requiring a strong investigative background and the ability to work sensitively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively assess and investigate reports of sudden, suspicious, unnatural, or violent deaths, including attending scenes.
- Obtain statements and information from witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the circumstances surrounding a death.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and legislation related to Coronial matters.
- Secure and preserve the evidence through thorough investigation, preparing inquest files and presenting findings to the Coroner.
- Maintain integrity and continuity of evidence and exhibits.
- Act as a single point of contact for Senior Investigating Officers, offering guidance on Coronial processes at crime scenes.
- Complete enquiries efficiently and professionally, ensuring timely submission of documentation and reports.

- Background in investigative work (e.g., police, legal, forensic, or similar)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
- Knowledge of Coronial procedures and relevant legislation is highly desirable.
