Interim Contracts Manager - 6 month assignment
About the Role
This plays a vital part in supporting the successful delivery of programmes across the organisation. As a Contracts Manager, you will work closely with teams across the business to provide practical, hands-on commercial support. You will help ensure that contracts are well-managed, risks are understood, and suppliers deliver what they have promised. You will be part of a wider commercial team that provides consistent, high quality support to all directorates. Standard contract management processes will guide your work, but you will also bring a proactive, engaged, and solutions focused approach to supporting delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
As a Contracts Manager, you will:
Work with colleagues across different teams to understand their needs and translate them into clear contract requirements.
Support the development of specifications and review supplier proposals to ensure they meet the aims of the programme.
Work closely with delivery and operational teams to identify commercial issues early and help develop solutions at pace.
Monitor contract performance, carry out regular reviews, and take action to address risks or non‑compliance.
Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with suppliers and contractors to support successful delivery.
Prepare clear reports for senior leaders on contract performance, risks, and opportunities.
Provide guidance and advice to colleagues on contract management, including sharing best practice.
Keep up to date with relevant legislation, procurement policy, and contract management standards.
Lead negotiations for contract changes, renewals, and amendments to secure the best outcomes for the organisation.
Essential Skills and Experience
We are looking for someone who can bring:
Strong negotiation and relationship building skills, with the ability to influence and work well with a wide range of people.
A proactive, self starting approach with resilience and a strong desire to deliver results.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, adaptable attitude suited to a fast moving environment.
A track record of delivering high quality outcomes under pressure, including managing priorities, identifying risks early, and making sound decisions.
Solid commercial awareness, including experience using financial and market insights to secure value for money.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and engaging way.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to make a real impact and believe you have the skills we’re looking for, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply today
