A forward-thinking local authority is seeking to expand its legal team with a dedicated and experienced legal professional. The Legal Services team plays a key role in supporting the Council’s strategic objectives, ensuring legal compliance, and enabling effective procurement and contract management across the organisation.
Your new role
This is a legal role focused on contracts and procurement law, ideal for someone with strong drafting and advisory skills who can quickly pick up work and operate with minimal supervision. You’ll work under the guidance of a Principal Lawyer, managing a caseload that includes:
- Drafting and reviewing contracts and terms & conditions 
- Advising on procurement processes and public sector compliance 
- Supporting commercial and governance-related legal matters 
- Collaborating with internal departments and external stakeholders 
- Contributing to training, legal updates, and team development 
What you'll need to succeed
- A UK law degree or equivalent legal qualification
- Eligibility for or completion of the SQE or Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme
- Strong experience in contracts and procurement law, ideally within a local authority
- Excellent legal drafting, research, and communication skills
- Ability to manage your own caseload and work independently
- A clear record of responsibilities and achievements in previous roles
- Commitment to professional development and legal qualification
