The Role
As a Computer Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and rigorous lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially KS5), equipping students with the skills and knowledge to thrive in a digital age. You will foster curiosity, logical thinking, and creativity through a curriculum that includes:
- Programming (Python, Java, or similar)
- Algorithms and data structures
- Computer systems and architecture
- Cybersecurity and networks
- Databases and software development
- Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies (desirable)
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons that challenge and inspire.
- Develop students’ coding, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and digital tools to enhance learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment activities such as coding clubs, hackathons, or robotics.
- Stay current with technological advancements and integrate them into teaching.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience teaching Computer Science at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 essential; KS5 desirable).
- Strong knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, HTML/CSS/JavaScript).
- Familiarity with exam board specifications (e.g., OCR, AQA, Edexcel).
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience teaching A-Level Computer Science or BTEC IT.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, or game development.
- Experience with cloud platforms, version control (e.g., Git), or databases.
- A passion for digital innovation and student engagement.
- Willingness to lead or support extracurricular tech initiatives.
