Overview
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your compliance career within a global, mission‑driven, environmental non‑profit organisation. Working as part of the Governance function within Corporate Services, you will play a key role in ensuring the organisation meets its regulatory and legal obligations across multiple international jurisdictions.
The position has a strong focus on data protection and privacy compliance (UK/EU GDPR), including day‑to‑day support for staff queries, maintaining compliance records, and working closely with an external Data Protection Officer. Alongside this, the role supports the organisation’s ongoing international registration programme and statutory filing requirements across regions including Europe, North America, and APAC.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Corporate Services (including HR, Finance, and Technology & Data) as well as international advisors, contributing to the organisation’s mission to protect the natural environment through high‑quality compliance practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Governance Secretary and Chief Operating Officer with day‑to‑day compliance activities.
- Assist with the organisation’s international registration programme, including coordinating statutory filings across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of corporate documents and legal entity registrations.
- Work with the external DPO provider to ensure compliance with global data protection requirements.
- Undertake Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and risk assessments.
- Maintain and update the Record of Processing Activities (RoPA).
- Support the handling of DSARs, privacy incidents and data breaches.
- Ensure organisational policies remain compliant with legislative and regulatory changes.
- Provide practical compliance guidance to colleagues across the organisation.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Technology & Data, HR, Finance) on compliance-related processes and information gathering.
- Contribute to ongoing international compliance projects, including the establishment of new subsidiaries where required.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential: - Bachelor's degree in law, Business Administration, Compliance, or related field.
- Experience in a compliance, governance, or data protection–related role.
- Practical knowledge of GDPR and data privacy principles, ideally with hands‑on experience (e.g., DPIAs, RoPA, DSARs).
- Strong organisational skills and proven ability to manage documents, deadlines, and detail across multiple jurisdictions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise judgement, and know when to escalate issues.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a collaborative working style.
Desirable: - Experience supporting international compliance or legal entity registrations (EU/US/APAC/LATAM).
- Familiarity with compliance management systems or privacy software.
- Exposure to non-profit, environmental, legal, or corporate governance settings.
- Understanding of statutory filing processes and corporate governance documentation.
Who This Role Would Suit - Someone who is diligent, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage admin-heavy workflows.
- A motivated, team-focused person who is eager to develop their compliance career in a supportive environment.
- Someone who enjoys operational delivery work rather than high-level strategy or regulatory decision‑making.
