Compliance Officer (12 Month FTC) - Energy - London - Up to £65,000

Your new company

A well‑established international energy business is seeking a Compliance Officer to support the ongoing development and implementation of its group‑wide compliance framework. This is a broad, hands‑on role offering exposure to international operations and senior stakeholders.

Your new role

Reporting into the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, you will act as the first point of contact for compliance matters across the group. The position covers anti‑bribery and corruption, economic crime, sanctions, and wider regulatory compliance, with responsibility for embedding robust controls and promoting a strong compliance culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the group compliance framework
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation including the UK Bribery Act, FCPA and other applicable economic crime regulations
  • Overseeing gifts and hospitality and conflicts of interest reporting and mitigation
  • Reviewing and approving certain government‑related payments and corporate social responsibility initiatives
  • Managing third‑party onboarding, due diligence and sanctions screening
  • Supporting internal investigations as required
  • Driving compliance training, awareness and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on compliance queries
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with confidentiality and data protection requirements


What you'll need to succeed

  • A degree‑level education
  • Around 3+ years’ experience in compliance or risk roles
  • Strong knowledge of anti‑corruption legislation and international compliance standards
  • Experience in the energy, extractives or similarly regulated sectors (desirable)
  • Exposure to emerging markets environments (advantageous)
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with senior stakeholders
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
