Compliance Assurance Officer, Contract, London

You will play a key role in providing practical guidance on key regulatory areas, supporting the implementation of policy changes, and contributing to the delivery of the annual compliance monitoring programme. The role involves close collaboration with business units, senior management, and compliance colleagues to ensure robust systems and controls are in place.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Guidance & Advisory

  • Provide clear, proportionate guidance on:
    • UK Data Protection Regulations
    • Outsourcing and third ‑ party risk management (PRA/FCA requirements)
    • Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR)
  • Advise staff and senior management on relevant UK regulatory obligations.
  • Review internal frameworks in the above areas and recommend enhancements.

Compliance Monitoring & Reporting

  • Support and undertake compliance monitoring activities across various risk areas, including conduct risk, operational resilience, depositor protection, and treating customers fairly.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the annual compliance monitoring plan.
  • Produce reports on monitoring outcomes and assist in preparing reports for senior management.

Policy, Projects & Governance

  • Assist business units with implementing changes to internal policies resulting from regulatory developments.
  • Monitor progress against implementation plans.
  • Provide support on compliance ‑ related projects and regulatory initiatives.
  • Where required, act as secretary for internal compliance committees or similar governance forums.

General Support

  • Support the Head of Compliance in day ‑ to ‑ day departmental activity and ad ‑ hoc tasks.
  • Maintain strong technical and soft skills to effectively perform the role.

About You

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a regulatory compliance role within a small or medium ‑ sized banking environment.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Data Protection requirements
    • PRA/FCA Outsourcing and third ‑ party risk management
    • Risk management frameworks
  • Confident presenting in both written and verbal formats.
  • Experience supporting or leading project-based work.
  • Ability to help shape proportionate systems and controls to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to produce high ‑ quality written reports.
  • A proactive, hands ‑ on approach with strong initiative.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural environment.

  • Working knowledge of:
    • SM&CR
    • FCA Conduct Rules
    • Depositor Protection rules
    • Operational Resilience requirements
  • Experience preparing FCA regulatory returns.
