Teaching Assistant Jobs Available at Complex SEND Secondary School in Tameside
We are seeking dedicated, patient and nurturing Teaching Assistants to join a supportive SEND secondary school in Tameside providing specialist education for pupils with Autism (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will work across multiple classes, supporting pupils aged 11–19 to access learning, develop independence and engage positively in school life.
Location: Tameside
Contract: Full-time, long-term (with potential to become permanent)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday–Friday, term time only
Rate: Up to £125/day DOE

Key Responsibilities:
- Support various classes across the school
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support across a range of SEND needs (ASC, PMLD, SLD).
- Assist with personalised learning activities designed by class teachers and therapists.
- Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external agencies.
- Assist with personal care, including toileting, feeding, hoisting and mobility support (full training provided).
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment for learners.
- Help prepare classroom resources and maintain an organised learning space.
- Promote independence, life skills, and positive behaviour strategies.
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs (school, residential, youth work or care settings all considered).
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Team Teach training (desirable)
- A calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
- Willingness to support with personal care and physical needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work across different classes and age groups.
- A desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
