Community Resilience Officer required on a temporary contract basis by a large public body

Your new company

The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a large public body, to recruit a Community Resilience Officer on an ongoing temporary contract basis.

Your new role

You will be responsible for delivering Community Resilience activities in line with the overall objectives of the Regional Community Resilience Group. The objective will be to empower communities across specific areas in Northern Ireland to become more resilient in the face of flooding and other risks.

You will be required to develop societal resilience in accordance with the National Consortium for Societal Resilience (NCSR) principles and will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work with all relevant stakeholders across community, voluntary and statutory sectors.

Your role will entail:

1. Implementing the Regional Community Resilience Group’s Community Resilience Programme through identifying and assisting ‘at risk communities’ to develop resilience and recovery plans.
2. Engaging with “at risk communities” across Northern Ireland through collaboration with relevant agencies across the statutory, community and voluntary sectors.
3. Liaising with relevant councils to identify existing groups and networks that can assist the overarching aim of the project.
4. Understanding and mapping the diversity and extent of local community resilience activities and needs to provide an accurate picture of existing activity and future needs during potential future shocks and stresses.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you should possess:

A third level qualification (i.e. HNC/HND, Level 4, Degree) with one year’s experience in:
▪ Managing projects;
▪ Partnership working with other organisations in the public and private sector.
If you do not possess a third level qualification, you should be able to demonstrate at least four years’ experience in the above areas.

Additionally, you should have:

• Excellent organisation and project management skills and the ability to plan and manage priorities to ensure deadlines are met and objectives achieved;
• Problem-solving and decision-making/ability to analyse complex issues and be capable of developing and implementing a range of practical risk-based solutions;
• A high level of technical competence in dealing with complex issues;

You will also need to have a full, current driving licence and a car available for business use.

What you'll get in return

This position offers an immediate start and the opportunity to work with a large public body on an ongoing temporary contract basis. You will be paid via Hays on a weekly basis for all hours worked.
