Contract: Initial 6-month contract
Location: Solihull – Hybrid Work Pattern

Hays is proud to be working in partnership with a respected local authority to recruit an experienced Communications Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful community projects and make a real impact across a range of public sector initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement effective communications and consultation strategies.
Identify stakeholders and ensure timely, clear information flow across projects.
Write and edit engaging communications materials tailored to diverse audiences.
Support the promotion and coordination of community events and roadshows.
Liaise with local, regional, and national media in line with the Council’s media protocol.
Advise on and monitor the Council’s visual identity and brand, ensuring consistency.
Guide staff and managers on communication best practices and branding guidelines.
Ensure stakeholders are informed and involved using appropriate communication channels.

Ideal Candidate:

Proven experience in a communications role, ideally within the public sector.
Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats and audiences.
Confident working with the media and managing public-facing communications.
Knowledge of community engagement, local grants, funding, and public safety initiatives.
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
