Commercial Manager needed for extremely busy Civils Contractor

Your new role

As Commercial Manager, you'll drive the financial success of projects from tender to completion. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions
  • Negotiating contract terms, variations, and commercial agreements
  • Managing subcontractor agreements and procurement processes
  • Conducting regular project reviews to monitor financial performance
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment
  • Managing cash flow forecasting and budget control
  • Ensuring full compliance with contract requirements
  • Collaborating with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
  • Maintaining high standards of commercial governance

What you'll need to succeed

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in quantity surveying, commercial management, or related discipline
  • Substantial commercial experience in civil engineering/construction
  • Strong knowledge of standard contracts (particularly NEC and JCT)
  • Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Ability to interpret complex contract documents and identify risks
  • Strong negotiation and communication abilities
  • Detail-orientated with excellent organisational skills
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Advantageous:

  • Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, or similar)
  • Experience in infrastructure or utilities projects
