You will be joining a well‑established engineering consultancy based in Belfast, known for delivering high‑quality civil and structural design solutions across the public and private sectors. The company has built a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaborative working, and delivering practical, cost‑effective engineering outcomes.
They support projects across infrastructure, commercial development, residential schemes, refurbishment works, and complex structural assessments. With consistent growth and a healthy pipeline of new work, the consultancy is expanding its civil and structural team and is seeking a motivated engineer to contribute to both design and onsite project delivery.
Your new role
As a Civil/Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting and delivering technical designs, site activities, and project coordination. The position offers a balance of office‑based design work and onsite inspections, giving you both analytical and hands‑on project exposure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing civil and structural designs, calculations, and technical drawings
- Carrying out site inspections, surveys, and monitoring activities to assess progress and ensure compliance
- Preparing technical reports, design documentation, and risk assessments
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and statutory bodies
- Supporting feasibility studies and contributing to project planning
- Ensuring work meets regulatory standards and project timeframes
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring a mix of technical knowledge, practical site awareness, and the ability to work confidently within a team and independently.
Key requirements include:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
- Previous onsite experience is essential (inspections, monitoring, surveys, or site engineering activities)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency with relevant engineering software
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
- Progress toward chartership (or interest in working toward it) is desirable
