Your new role:
- To support the educational and emotional development of students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours, ensuring they have the best possible opportunities to succeed.
- You will provide vital classroom support and encourage the academic development of the students through being a conscientious, empathetic, but stern role model both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualised support to students, both one-on-one and in small interventions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Support classroom management and promote positive behaviour through consistent and fair SEND practices.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities where required.
- Implement strategies to support students’ social and emotional development.
- Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
- Provide support during school activities, including outings and special events.
What you'll need to succeed:

Essential:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable:
- Additional training or qualifications in SEMH, behaviour management, or special education.
- Experience working in a PRU or similar setting.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in supporting students with SEMH needs.
