Hays are currently working closely with a world-renowned luxury estate, celebrated for its heritage, elegance, and exceptional hospitality. As they embark on ambitious development and refurbishment projects, we are seeking a visionary Chief Engineer to lead the engineering and construction operations with precision and excellence.

Your new role

As Chief Engineer, you will hold a pivotal leadership position, overseeing all engineering and construction activities across the estate. This role demands a strategic thinker with hands-on expertise, capable of managing complex projects while safeguarding the integrity of our historic property.
You will lead and inspire four specialist teams, ensuring seamless collaboration across construction, maintenance, technical services, and compliance. Flexibility is essential, as this position requires adaptability to evolving priorities and the ability to respond swiftly to operational needs.

  • Direct and manage all construction, refurbishment, and engineering projects from concept to completion.
  • Oversee the maintenance and optimisation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop four engineering teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships to deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Drive innovation and sustainability initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a senior engineering or construction leadership role within luxury hospitality or high-end property development.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems and construction methodologies.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple teams.
  • Strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • High degree of flexibility and resilience in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be qualified in at least 2 trades
  • Must have flexibility – able to work weekends/bank holidays with shift patterns
  • Must have a UK driving licence

  • £75,000- £85,000 Annually
