Your new company

You will be working for a known organisation based in Birmingham. The requirement will be to be on-site 1–2 days a week. The role is until April 2026 with a possible extension. Local Government or Central Government experience is essential for this role, along with excellent stakeholder management and change experience. This role inside scope of IR35.


Your new role

The Change Consultant is a specialist role responsible for managing the people side of change to drive successful adoption and deliver business outcomes. It goes beyond communication, requiring strategic stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, and adoption planning to ensure smooth transitions and maximise impact.

The role involves developing a deep understanding of directorates, including their size, complexity, challenges, strengths, weaknesses, and engagement channels, using this knowledge to tailor change strategies to their specific needs. It requires assessing the impact of changes on each directorate and identifying the support required, such as communications, training, or other resources, to ensure readiness and minimise disruption.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with directorates is essential. This includes offering support, sharing information, gaining trust, and gathering feedback to enhance collaboration and ensure alignment. They will also establish and support a robust Change Champions network, working with directorates to understand their support needs, facilitating Champion calls, and providing ongoing assistance.
A key part of the role is managing and triaging queries from directorates and Change Champions, responding appropriately or forwarding them to the relevant areas, while tracking all queries through to resolution. Using data insights, they will continuously refine strategies to maximise effectiveness.

The Change Consultant brings proven experience and expertise in building trust, managing resistance, and influencing decision-makers. They are skilled at identifying risks, conducting readiness assessments, and implementing mitigation plans. Additionally, they track and measure the effectiveness of adoption, using the insights to improve strategies. Their understanding of behavioural change and coaching techniques enables them to influence mindsets and embed long-term change.
