The role is client‑side and will focus on providing robust CDM advice, contractor oversight, and practical health and safety support across multiple sites.
This role is home-based with regular travel to sites in Liverpool.
This is a delivery‑focused position, well suited to a construction‑experienced H&S professional or CDM specialist who is comfortable operating at pace, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, and applying CDM principles pragmatically on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide competent client‑side CDM advice across multiple construction and refurbishment projects
- Act as a point of contact for CDM matters, supporting duty holders in meeting their obligations under CDM 2015

- Offer oversight and assurance of contractor activities, promoting safe systems of work and compliance with agreed standards
- Undertake site inspections and audits, identifying issues and supporting timely, proportionate corrective actions
- Engage positively with Principal Contractors, designers, consultants, and internal stakeholders
- Support coordination between design and construction teams to ensure risks are eliminated or reduced so far as reasonably practicable
- Provide clear, practical advice and reporting suitable for a client‑side environment
- Contribute to continuous improvement of construction health and safety management arrangements
About You
- Strong construction health and safety background, with demonstrable CDM experience
- Previous experience in a client‑side CDM or advisor role is highly advantageous
- Comfortable overseeing contractors and challenging constructively where required
- Good working knowledge of refurbishment projects as well as new build environments
- Confident communicator, able to adapt style when dealing with senior stakeholders, contractors, and site teams
- Practical, solutions‑focused approach rather than purely theoretical CDM interpretation
- Able to work autonomously across a portfolio of projects
Ideal Background (One or More of the Following)
- Former operational health and safety professional from a construction background
- Dedicated CDM Advisor or CDM Consultant
- Experience working for or alongside clients, local authorities, estates teams, or public sector organisations
