Category Manager at an exciting public sector organisation in Manchester

Your new role
The Category Manager will be responsible for the 'Property' category and will manage the consistent delivery of high quality, value for money services through an efficient procurement service. You will manage the end-to-end procurement process, which will entail working with key stakeholders to establish specifications, through to contract negotiation, bid evaluations, contract award and contract management. As Category Manager, you will work on high value procurements up to £25m in line with public contract regulations, all the while delivering the best value for money.
You will build and maintain strong commercial relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders. Working with internal stakeholders, you will provide sound procurement guidance and advice on sourcing options which deliver value for money, and then will manage the tender process from start to finish, ensuring best practice, PCR2015 compliance, and mitigating contractual risk.
This role is predominantly home-based, but you will be expected to attend the Manchester office around 1 day per week, along with semi-regular visits to the company's Repairs & Maintenance team in Lancashire.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Prior experience in public-sector procurement, ideally gained within a social housing environment
- Demonstrable experience in category management activities within a complex organisation
- Understanding of Public Contract Regulations (PCR2015)
- Ideally, you will have an understanding of JCT contracts
- Good IT skills - particularly within MS Office
- CIPS qualified or working towards
