Defendant Senior Associate sought after for a Catastrophic Loss role with a top-tier firm (8+ PQE)

Your new company

Our client is a top-tier defendant practice seeking a Senior Associate with 8+ PQE in defendant personal injury to join its highly regarded personal injury department in Manchester, Leeds or Birmingham. For those in Leeds and Birmingham, occasional travel to Manchester will be required.

The role involves handling a broad range of complex liability and injury matters, working with a range of public sector clients. You will gain exposure to multi-track and catastrophic injury cases.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a leading defendant personal injury team, recognised for market-leading expertise across a wide spectrum of casualty work and known for managing high-profile, complex, and cross-border cases.

Your new role

This Catastrophic Loss Senior Associate role will see you:
  • Manage a varied caseload of EL/PL and motor-related personal injury matters, including multi-track and catastrophic loss files.
  • Assist on cases and complex liability disputes exceeding £1,000,000.
  • Provide strategic, commercially focused advice to a diverse client base including insurers, construction, transport, retail and leisure sectors.
  • Progress both pre‑litigation and litigated files, ensuring efficient management and excellent client service.
  • Contribute to the delivery of practical, solutions‑driven outcomes in keeping with the team’s modern, innovative approach to claims handling.
  • Supervise junior team members where required.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive.
  • 8+ years PQE within defendant personal injury, including multi-track and/or catastrophic loss matters.
  • Previous experience of policy coverage.
  • Strong technical skills with an ability to apply commercial judgment and pragmatic problem-solving.
