Are you passionate about hands-on learning and technical excellence? Join our dynamic team as a Curriculum Technical Support Specialist, where you'll play a vital role in supporting teaching staff and students across a diverse and innovative curriculum area.
️ Main Purpose of the Role
To provide expert technical support and assistance to teaching staff and students, while developing and maintaining all technical aspects of the curriculum environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set-Up & Support During Sessions
- Prepare classroom areas, resources, and equipment for practical activities
- Operate and train staff on complex tools and machinery using safe practices
- Demonstrate techniques and supervise student use of equipment under a lecturer's guidance.
- Assist lecturers during practical sessions and exhibitions
- Manage loans of tools and resources for teaching and project work
- Advise on Health & Safety related to equipment and materials
Post-Session Clear-Up
- Account for and safely store materials and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in learning spaces
- Dispose of used materials safely and responsibly
Maintenance & Health & Safety
- Inspect, repair, and service equipment to ensure safety and functionality
- Create clear operating manuals for tools and machinery
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and hygiene regulations
Stock Control & Procurement
- Maintain stock levels and records
- Source and purchase equipment cost-effectively
- Implement stock control systems and liaise with suppliers
- Manage rotation and storage of dry and perishable goods
Development & Collaboration
- Identify new technical requirements with curriculum leaders
- Support the creation of teaching aids and models
- Consult with external companies on project work and advise on costs
General Duties
- Handle cash and complete relevant documentation
- Assist with exhibitions, competitions, and displays
- Promote and ensure student safety across all activities
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a technical support or technician role
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and students
- Proficiency in using and maintaining a wide range of tools and equipment

- Minimum of a level 3 NVQ in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent qualification
- Applicants must have GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grades A–C, or equivalent. (Where this cannot be evidenced, candidates will be required to undertake an assessment prior to interview to confirm equivalence.)
- At least two years of relevant post-qualification experience.
Other:
- A proven ability to operate and maintain a range of joinery workshop machining equipment.
- Access to suitable transport for business purposes to effectively discharge the duties of this post.
