Caretaker - Permanent Position - Company Vehicle - Flexible working hours

Your new role

  • Perform general minor repairs, gardening, cleaning, and property maintenance across schemes.
  • Conduct void property inspections, clearances, minor repairs, and redecorations within required timeframes.
  • Deliver office/cleaning supplies, equipment, and furniture to support meetings, events, and openings.
  • Collaborate with the Housing team to promote and facilitate community development activities.
  • Repair/replace locks, remove weeds/moss from paved areas, and carry out manual checks (e.g., lighting).
  • Undertake pre-inspections of schemes/voids, report findings, and highlight housing or maintenance issues.
  • Support residents with home maintenance advice and demonstrations (e.g., resetting gas meters).
  • Clean and maintain communal areas (car parks, corridors, stairways, lifts, bin stores, windows, etc.) and manage weekly bin collections.
  • Carry out weekly fire alarm tests, report faults, and ensure secure handling/maintenance of vans, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist Direct Maintenance Operatives and external contractors by providing access, guidance, and support for efficient task completion.

What you'll need to succeed

  • NVQ in Property/Building Maintenance (or equivalent), with consideration for candidates working towards or demonstrating relevant experience.
  • Computer literacy with strong ICT skills, including internet use and Microsoft Office (Word & Excel).
  • At least 1 year’s relevant experience in a similar role (paid or voluntary), with proven customer-focused service delivery.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and prioritisation skills; effective communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal abilities, especially with vulnerable people.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, under pressure, meeting deadlines; innovative and results-focused problem solver.
  • Flexibility to attend evening/weekend meetings; training will be provided as required.
