Site Safety Officer - Social Housing

Job Title: Site Caretaker/Cleaner - (Social Housing)
Location: Leeds
Employment Type: Temporary (via HAYS Recruitment)

We are currently seeking a Site Safety Officer / Caretaker to support a busy social housing environment in Leeds. This is a 6-month temporary role offered through HAYS Recruitment, ideal for someone with a strong sense of responsibility and a proactive approach to site safety and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety and security of the site, including regular inspections and hazard reporting.
  • Heavily involve cleaning, mopping, wiping surfaces, hoovering and more. This is a physically demanding role, you will need to be able to manage going up and down 16 flights of stairs on a daily basis.
  • Carry out basic maintenance tasks and repairs across the property.
  • Monitor and manage access to the site, including contractors and visitors.
  • Support health and safety compliance, including fire safety checks and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in communal areas.
  • Respond to tenant queries and escalate issues where necessary.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, or site safety role—ideally within social housing or property management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and site protocols.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic handyman skills (e.g., minor repairs, cleaning, maintenance).
