Contract Opportunity - Cards Architect – Sheffield
About the role:
As a Cards Architect with expertise in Digital Retail Banking, you will collaborate with our client’s technology and architecture teams. You will be responsible for owning end‑to‑end solution design and providing architectural leadership across card‑based platforms within a large‑scale financial services programme.

Location: Sheffield Shifts: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead end‑to‑end solution architecture for cards and credit card platforms
- Translate business requirements into scalable, cost‑effective solution designs
- Break down BRDs into MVPs and architecture deliverables
- Provide architectural direction and ensure adherence to governance standards
- Collaborate with stakeholders across business and technology teams
- Manage architectural risks, issues, and dependencies
- Partner with external suppliers on integration and architecture patterns
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and future‑state designs
- Mentor and support delivery teams with architectural guidance
Other stuff we’re potentially looking for:
- Extensive experience in cards / credit card processing systems
- Strong background within financial services or digital retail banking
- Proven solution architecture delivery experience
- Full‑stack solution design (web, app, API, orchestration; mainframe beneficial)
- Cloud platform experience or certification
- Resilient and high‑availability system design experience
- Security‑by‑design mindset
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills
- Experience working in large, matrixed environments

- A daily rate, in‑scope IR35, of £450 per day (PAYE) via a Hays‑approved umbrella company.
