Capital Works Officer – Social Housing (Interim)

Your new company

Are you a highly organised professional with experience in contract management and planned maintenance within social housing? We’re recruiting for a Capital Works Officer to support a major investment programme spanning the next five years. This interim role offers long-term potential and a competitive rate starting from £20+ per hour, flexible depending on experience. You’ll be overseeing council-owned housing stock, helping to deliver high-quality improvements that directly benefit residents.

Your new role

  • Managing contractor relationships and ensuring delivery against agreed terms.
  • Scheduling and coordinating works across multiple properties.
  • Overseeing diaries for tradespeople, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Responding to tenant queries and complaints with empathy and efficiency.
  • Supporting delivery of planned maintenance programmes including:-Kitchen and bathroom refurbishments; roofing, window, and door replacements; external works and cyclical repairs.
  • Monitoring progress, updating stakeholders, and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on project milestones.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in contract management and planned maintenance.
  • Ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including contractors, tenants and internal surveyors / managers.
  • Excellent organisation, administrative and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of trades, building components, and social housing environments.
  • A proactive, resident-focused approach
