Call Handler | Glasgow | Nightshift Required

Your new role

As a Control Room / Monitoring Officer, you will support a range of call handling and monitoring functions on a rotating 3‑on / 3‑off shift pattern across a full 7‑day week. Shifts are 11 hours with a 1‑hour unpaid break and include early, late and, once fully trained, night shifts.
Initially, your focus will be on Telecare call handling, responding calmly and professionally to vulnerable service users. As you become more confident in the Control Room, you will be gradually trained across additional workstreams including Anti‑Social Behaviour calls, out‑of‑hours housing repairs and homeless presentations, CCTV monitoring, and alarm activations (fire and intruder). From the outset, you will be expected to answer all incoming calls, accurately record information and pass messages to the relevant teams where required.

Flexibility is important, particularly during peak cover periods between 07:00–09:00 and 18:00–20:00.

What you'll need to succeed

Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive situations
Confident IT skills and the ability to work across multiple systems
Excellent attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping
Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including unsocial hours
A reliable, professional and adaptable approach
Previous experience in call handling, control room, housing, or emergency services environments is desirable but not essential.

What you'll get in return

Up to £23.17 per hour
A structured shift pattern with built‑in rest days
Comprehensive training, starting with Telecare and expanding into wider control room functions
Valuable experience in a critical frontline service
Ongoing support as you develop confidence across all workstreams
