This Buyer role is based within a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment, focusing on sourcing raw materials, packaging, and indirect goods to support production and customer demand.
Your new role
- Source and purchase raw materials, packaging, and consumables in line with production schedules.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve the best value while maintaining quality.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability and responsiveness.
- Monitor stock levels and manage replenishment to avoid shortages or excess.
- Analyse market trends and supplier performance to identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality standards, and company policies.
- Collaborate with production, planning, and logistics teams to align purchasing with operational needs.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders and supplier agreements using ERP systems.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in buying or procurement within FMCG, food manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- CIPS qualification or working towards it.
- Knowledge of fresh produce supply chains and seasonal sourcing.
