Your new company


You will be joining a well-established engineering business operating within highly regulated sectors. The organisation is experiencing continued growth and is investing in its procurement function to build a high-performing, resilient supply chain that supports both current production and future product development.

Your new role


As a Buyer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end procurement activities to support manufacturing operations. You will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials, components and services, while maintaining a strong focus on quality, compliance and supplier performance.


Working closely with engineering, production and supply chain teams, you will support both ongoing production and new product introduction (NPI).

Key responsibilities


  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes, including sourcing, RFQs, negotiation, purchase order placement and expediting

  • Develop and manage supplier relationships across mechanical components, materials and subcontract processing

  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to meet budget and cost targets

  • Monitor and improve supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery)

  • Raise and manage purchase orders and works orders, ensuring accuracy across technical and commercial specifications

  • Support NPI and design-for-manufacture activities in collaboration with Engineering

  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen supply chain capability

  • Establish and manage long-term supplier agreements (LTAs)

  • Ensure strong communication between internal stakeholders and external suppliers


What you’ll need to succeed


  • Experience within a procurement / purchasing role in a manufacturing or engineering environment

  • Strong background in mechanical components and machining supply chains

  • Knowledge of materials and surface treatments (metals preferred)

  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems

  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to read technical drawings (advantageous)

  • Experience within regulated industries is desirable
