Your new role
As a Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the Senior Buyer and ensuring the smooth flow of purchasing activities. Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing supplier accounts and negotiating contracts to secure cost-effective solutions.
• Placing and amending purchase orders across direct and indirect categories.
• Monitoring due and overdue orders, maintaining OTIF records, and updating production schedules.
• Negotiating price reductions, extended payment terms, and delivery methods in line with KPIs.
• Conducting supplier audits and driving continuous improvement in quality and defect reduction.
• Reviewing MRP demands, maintaining system lead times, and preparing for departmental meetings.
• Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
What you’ll need to succeed
Essential qualifications and experience:
• Solid IT skills, including experience with SAP or similar systems.
• Proven purchasing/supply chain experience, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and adhere to company policies.
• A keen eye for detail and excellent organisational skills.
Desirable:
• CIPS qualifications (Level 4+)
• Advanced knowledge of SAP and MRP systems.
