Buyer in the Food & Commodities Industry

Hays has partnered with an FMCG organisation based in North Bristol to help recruit a Buyer into their busy Procurement function. You'll be joining the business at an exciting time after recently going through some major growth and a location move. This role will be well suited to a candidate that is looking to progress their career further, with the potential of moving into a Senior Buyer position and the chance to go through CIPS qualifications after a certain period of time.

Your new role

You'll be working closely with the Head of Procurement, managing all direct spend which includes both raw ingredients and packaging materials. You'll spend most of your time sourcing new suppliers across the globe, negotiating prices, awarding contracts and managing suppliers there on after. You'll have complete autonomy over cost-saving targets ('£x" per year) and be able to navigate this how you see fit, whether it be changing supplier origin of country, re-tendering at longer terms or deciding to contract award and certain periods of time.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 2+ years of experience of direct buying (Ideally FMCG or Manufacturing)
  • Experience sourcing and working with international suppliers
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Supplier contract management
  • Confident communication skills, you'll be liaising closely with the technical team and suppliers
  • Being able to operate autonomously

We understand that you can be put off applying if you don't quite hit all the marks, but we still want to hear from you! Please note, we cannot offer sponsorship for this role and you will need to be based in the UK to be able to apply.

Salary: Up to £45,000 p.a
Location: North Bristol
Working Pattern: 3 days on site, 2 days from home per week
Benefits: Flexible working hours (core hours between 9:00–15:30), 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, holiday purchase scheme, life assurance, free parking and electric car charging, shopping discounts & more.
