Hays is working with a global manufacturer to recruit a Buyer on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This organisation plays a key role in supporting scientific advancements across healthcare, energy, and space research.
Your new role
- Execute daily procurement tasks and manage supplier relationships
- Handle manual spreadsheet work and support ERP system transition
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services for production
- Negotiate pricing and maintain accurate cost data
- Collaborate with internal departments and attend project meetings
- Support stock control and participate in annual stocktake
- What you’ll need to succeed
What you'll need to succeed
- Recent experience in a purchasing role (within the last 3 years)
- Strong Excel skills and ability to manage manual systems
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- GCSEs including English & Maths (or equivalent)
- Desirable: Experience in manufacturing, working towards CIPS
What you'll get in return
- Full-time onsite for first 6 months (start time before 8:30am)
- Flexible finish times (Mon–Thurs from 4:30pm, Fri from 1pm)
