Hays are supporting a third sector organisation to recruit a temporary Business Support Officer on a part-time basis.

Your new role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join a well-respected organisation as a Business Support Officer with a focus on Human Resources and Learning & Development. This role offers a varied workload and the chance to contribute meaningfully to the smooth running of HR operations and wider administrative functions. Working closely with the Business Support Manager, you’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting recruitment and onboarding processes, and coordinating training activities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Human Resources & Learning and Development:
  • Support recruitment campaigns, interview scheduling, and post-interview documentation
  • Assist with onboarding, including offer letters, contracts, Access NI checks, and induction plans
  • Maintain accurate HR records including absence, progression, and compliance
  • Coordinate and book training in line with the annual L&D plan
  • Ensure all training is recorded and feedback is collected for evaluation
  • Prepare quarterly HR and L&D reports
  • Provide guidance to staff and management on HR policies and procedures
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive working environment

Administrative Support:
  • Deliver professional administrative services across departments
  • Provide a welcoming reception service to clients and callers
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure data confidentiality
  • Input data and produce reports as required
  • Support policy reviews and process improvements
  • Organise meeting rooms, refreshments, and office maintenance
  • Respond to queries and contribute to departmental planning

What you'll need to succeed

  • GCSE English and Maths plus 2 years’ experience in a business support role, or 4 years’ relevant experience
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience in HR, training coordination, or administrative support
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in business software packages and ICT problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
