The WMI Business Manager role offers a unique chance to engage in research, data analysis, and technology assessment, helping to achieve buildings’ decarbonisation targets while ensuring commercial success. This position places you at the heart of the industry’s transformation, driven by legislative changes, societal trends, and the rapid growth of IoT and AI, presenting exciting challenges and fostering innovation.

Your new role

You will operate and develop the market intelligence business, contributing to profit, reputation, and mission while delivering excellence to customers. This role involves overseeing WMI operations, collaborating with overseas entities to maximise business opportunities, and supporting wider commercial interests through partnerships with business managers and directors.

Further to this, you will:
  • Lead the WMI team in the UK and internationally, aligning with internal objectives, mission, and values.
  • Deliver top-quality research to grow the market intelligence portfolio, increase profitability, and expand its reputation.
  • Provide vision, set commercial and financial targets, and develop an operational plan.
  • Implement the agreed strategy.
  • Manage budgetary responsibilities (P&L) for WMI, including overseas business.
  • Ensure efficient internal processes and effective interaction with other internal entities.
  • Operate in compliance with corporate policies and support high standards across internal businesses.
  • Maintain excellence in market research standards, ensuring quality, validity, and reliability.
  • Explore opportunities for business development, including new products and services.
  • Represent the organisation at events, exhibitions, and conferences, with international travel as required.
  • Be an active, supportive member of the management team.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive business experience, including financial literacy, strong communication, and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with research methodologies and their applications.
  • Proficient at generating, managing, and analysing data.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills across societal and business boundaries.
  • Capable of working with international teams across various geographies and cultures.
  • Proficient at using a variety of software packages.
  • Familiarity with the construction and HVAC industry is a plus.
  • A university degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
