A large technology organisation based in the heart of Bristol.


Your new role

  • Lead GDPR compliance and data mapping activities, ensuring full governance of personal data flows across systems.
  • Create and maintain an information asset register and data lineage documentation, capturing all systems, sources, and interfaces.
  • Define and document data-handling roles and responsibilities (Controller vs Processor) in line with UK GDPR requirements.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Digital, Security, and Legal teams to validate interfaces, storage, and processing pathways involving personal data.
  • Develop and maintain processing records (ROPA, DPIAs, lawful-basis tables) to meet regulatory and assurance standards.
  • Perform gap analyses and recommend remediation actions to align practices with GDPR and data-governance obligations.
  • Engage stakeholders and provide progress reporting on compliance activities and risk mitigation.
  • Manage change control for new systems and updates to data flows, ensuring governance processes remain current.
  • Oversee post-delivery handover, embedding artefacts into ongoing governance frameworks and enabling knowledge transfer.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Expertise in Data Governance & Compliance: Skilled in interpreting GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, and contractual obligations. Experienced in preparing and maintaining ROPA, DPIA, and lawful-basis assessments.
  • Data Mapping & Lineage: Proficient in documenting and visualising complex data flows, interfaces, and dependencies.
  • Business Analysis (Data Focus): Ability to translate regulatory and business requirements into structured, auditable artefacts.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experienced in collaborating with Legal, Digital, Architecture, and external authorities to ensure compliance and timely approvals.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Adept at identifying compliance gaps, defining mitigations, and escalating through governance forums.
  • Process Improvement: Skilled in embedding sustainable data-handling processes and controls for future operations.
  • Communication & Assurance: Confident in reporting and presenting compliance progress to senior leadership and authorities.
  • Clearance: Must be willing to undergo BPSS screening.
