Business/data analyst, Belfast, £30-35k, fully on-site

I’m delighted to be working on behalf of a client in the utilities space to recruit a junior business analyst. The Business Analyst will provide high‑quality analytical and regulatory support to the organisation’s regulatory and operational teams. The role focuses on data analysis, financial and economic assessment, and supporting compliance with external regulatory frameworks.

The Business Analyst plays a key role in managing regulatory risk, supporting efficient operations, and providing insight to inform decision‑making across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide analytical and reporting support to senior managers on matters relating to operational and strategic regulation.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the relevant regulatory regime, including an understanding of all market sectors within scope.
  • Build a detailed understanding of industry rules governing network operations and interactions with suppliers, customers and other market participants.
  • Produce financial, economic and analytical assessments to support business requirements, minimise regulatory risk and improve regulatory performance.
  • Establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, consumer bodies, suppliers and industry partners.
  • Support the implementation of change initiatives through effective liaison across departments.
  • Provide analytical and administrative support as required to support regulatory and operational activities.


To be successful in this role, you will have the following skills/experience:
  • At least 2 years operating as a business analyst/data analyst
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and produce clear, meaningful insights for decision‑makers.
  • Experience undertaking financial, economic or performance analysis within a regulated, commercial or operational environment.
  • Ability to understand, apply and work within regulatory or governance frameworks, with a willingness to develop detailed sector‑specific knowledge.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with internal teams and external bodies.
  • Well organised with strong attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality outputs to deadlines.


This role will be 5 days working on-site in Belfast. Only candidates with the ability to fulfil this will be considered.
