Building Surveyor Job

Your new company

A long-established and respected property and construction consultancy, this firm delivers expert building surveying, cost consultancy, and principal designer services across the UK and across all sectors of the built environment. In late 2024, the business joined forces with a leading principal contractor known for its award-winning work in retrofit and sustainability.

Despite this exciting partnership, the consultancy continues to operate independently, with a strong focus on commercial projects and strategic growth. Following a recent relocation to modern offices in South Lanarkshire and the upcoming launch of a refreshed website, the business is entering a new phase of development and innovation.

With the retirement of its founding directors on the horizon, the company is looking to strengthen its team and build on its legacy with fresh talent and ideas.

Your new role

As a Building Surveyor, you’ll take a central role in leading and developing the building surveying function. You’ll work across a variety of commercial projects, support retrofit initiatives, and contribute to the strategic direction of the business. You’ll also mentor junior surveyors and collaborate closely with clients and contractors.

You’ll be joining a small, dedicated team that includes:
  • A Managing Director with over 20 years’ experience at the firm
  • A graduate building surveyor currently working towards APC
  • A trainee surveyor studying at college
This role offers a blend of hands-on surveying, team development, and strategic input, with the opportunity to take on principal designer responsibilities as the business evolves.

What you'll need to succeed

  • MRICS qualification (or close to sitting APC)
  • Proven experience in building surveying, ideally within commercial sectors
  • Strong technical and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and support junior staff
  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset

What you'll get in return

  • A key role in a respected consultancy with a strong legacy and exciting future
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunities for career progression and leadership
  • Supportive, flexible working environment
  • Exposure to diverse projects and strategic business development
