Building Services Engineer, Southend, Essex

Your new role

Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Building Services Engineer.
This role sits within the Property and Estate Management service and will undertake the design, specification, project management and supervision of capital and revenue work, including programmed maintenance contracts and the design of all types of electrical and mechanical installations in council-owned public buildings.
The role includes the provision of technical advice, preparation of specifications and drawings, alongside supervision of works, as appropriate, for all electrical & mechanical installations.
You will design M&E services applicable to various works projects covering all building services combined with a general electrical & mechanical installations background, including estimating for such, preparation of tender documentation and writing specifications, placing out to tender, supervision of works, contract administration up to and including the agreement of final accounts.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this position, you will be an experienced building services engineer with qualifications and training in an appropriate field(s).
You will be conversant with current regulations relating to Mechanical and Electrical Installations, such as Gas Safety Regulations, HSE Approved Code of Practice L8, Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations, WRAS and IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018).
Be an excellent communicator, with experience of using AutoCad alongside the Microsoft suite of applications. Have the knowledge to prepare contract documentation including drawings and specifications for major items of capital and revenue work covering design, repair/ troubleshooting, maintenance/ renewal and replacement of electrical installations.
