Your new role

In your new role as a Structures Inspector, you will play a key part in delivering inspection programmes across highway and rail assets, ensuring quality, safety, and performance standards are consistently met.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking structural inspections, including Principal and General Inspections

• Producing clear and accurate reports using client systems such as BridgeStation

• Managing your own workload in line with agreed inspection programmes

• Delivering work to strict KPI deadlines and client expectations

• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support programme delivery

• Identifying and assessing defects using BCI scoring and relevant standards

• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements

• Working across highway and rail environments, including at height and in confined spaces

• Participating in occasional night shifts and out-of-hours working where required

What you'll need to succeed

• Hold an HNC or equivalent qualification in Structural Engineering or a related discipline

• Have experience in structural inspections, ideally within highways or rail environments

• Have knowledge of DMRB standards, particularly CS450

• Be BICS accredited or working towards Lantra or a similar certification

• Have experience using BridgeStation or similar asset management systems

• Demonstrate strong understanding of BCI scoring and defect identification

• Be comfortable working at height and within confined spaces

• Possess a CSCS card and SMSTS (or equivalent)
