Hays A&F area recruiting for a well-established and growing construction and fit-out company based in Co. Down. Known for delivering high-quality projects across Northern Ireland and beyond, the company prides itself on precision, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence. We are now seeking to appoint an experienced bookkeeper on a full-time, perm basis. A 4-day week will also be considered.

Your new role

• Maintaining accurate financial records using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks)
• Processing invoices, receipts, payments, and bank reconciliations
• Managing accounts payable and receivable
• Preparing VAT returns and assisting with payroll
• Monitoring cash flow and supporting budgeting activities
• Assisting with month-end and year-end reporting
• Liaising with external accountants and auditors
• Supporting finance-related administrative tasks

What you'll need to succeed

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a bookkeeping or finance role
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and VAT regulations
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Experience in the construction or contracting industry
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills

• AAT qualification or equivalent
• Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme)
