A growing charity are seeking a temporary Bookkeeper to be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing day-to-day transactions, and supporting the production of financial reports. Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team, you will play a vital role in ensuring strong financial controls and compliance with charity and accounting regulations.
Your new role
- Maintain the charity’s financial records.
- Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, and staff expenses.
- Manage sales invoices, income recording, and credit control.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and control accounts.
- Process and reconcile payroll journals.
- Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Support budget monitoring and grant income/expenditure tracking.
- Maintain accurate records for restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Assist with year-end accounts preparation and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements and internal financial policies.
- Support continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within a charity, not-for-profit, or SME environment.
- Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
