Teaching Assistant Jobs Available at Behavioural SEN Schools in Stockport

We are seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to work on a supply basis within Behavioural Specialist Schools supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) and/or behavioural needs in and around the Stockport area. These schools provide a nurturing and structured environment for children who require additional support to engage with learning and develop positive behaviours. Whether you are an experienced SEMH TA, or you come from a residential care/support work background, we would love to hear from you!

Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester
Contract: Flexible Supply / Temporary

Rate: Up to £125/day

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Support pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and 1:1 settings.
Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning plans and behaviour strategies.
Promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour through consistent routines and interventions.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
Ensure safeguarding and confidentiality are maintained at all times.

Key Skills/Experience:

Experience working with children with SEMH or behavioural needs (school or alternative provision setting is ideal)
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations
A positive, understanding, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable learners
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
