Behaviour Support Worker – Secondary School – Nottingham
Are you a confident, patient and resilient individual with a passion for supporting young people? As the dedicated Secondary Recruitment Consultant for Hays Education in Nottingham, I’m working with a local secondary school seeking a committed Behaviour Support Worker to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis after half-term.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to students who need additional guidance, structure and encouragement to succeed in school.
About the Role
In this long‑term position, you will:
- Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs and behavioural difficulties
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and SEN departments
- Help maintain a positive and safe learning environment
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support
- Implement behaviour strategies and de‑escalation techniques
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
The school offers a supportive team, clear behaviour policies and ongoing guidance to help you thrive in the role.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs (school, youth work, care, sports coaching etc.)
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- A calm, patient and proactive approach
- Ability to build rapport and motivate students
- Resilience and confidence when managing challenging situations
(Experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential.)
