About the Role
A forward-thinking automotive engineering firm is seeking an Automotive Development Engineer to support the development, testing, and optimisation of advanced powertrain systems. These include diesel engines, combustion engines, and powertrain technologies. This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited to an engineer with experience in engine performance development or electric powertrain calibration. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal controls teams and external suppliers to define system requirements, implement control strategies, and calibrate performance across a range of innovative vehicle platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and calibrate dual-fuel systems
  • Test and calibrate electric powertrain components
  • Define system and control software requirements with internal and external teams
  • Execute test plans to verify system functionality, safety, and performance
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues across hardware and software
  • Maintain calibration data and produce technical documentation
  • Drive continuous improvement in development and calibration processes
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering or related field
  • 2–5 years’ experience in automotive, preferably in engine development or electric powertrain testing
  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and control systems
  • Experience with calibration tools and data analysis from test beds or vehicles
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software issues and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Willingness to travel and work in a dynamic, hands-on R&D environment
